The Williams PTO was able to fund just about half of the nearly 20 grant proposals we received from faculty and staff, focusing primarily on reach within the school and sustainability of the proposals without subsequent funding.
For those parents that took the opportunity to review and discuss each proposal, it was a thrill to see the level of commitment our teachers have for our children and truly a very difficult process to have to decline some of them.
Without exception, every proposal received was viable and we are hopeful that we will be able to run this program and see the same enthusiasm from our teachers next year!
Please watch for a supplement coming home in your child’s backpack this week that will highlight the funded programs and provide a synopsis of those we weren’t able to fund, in the hopes that we can come up with other creative funding options so more of out teachers’ needs can be met this year.
Thank you families for your generous contributions to the PTO and our fundraising efforts…without you, this program would not exist! The Williams PTO has launched a new grant program this year to benefit the entire Williams School community. The program will provide financial resources to accepted grantees/proposals to further the academic, cultural and social experience of children attending the Williams School.

PREVIOUS UPDATES:
On December 6, the PTO’s request for funds from the Community Preservation Committee for the design, study and planning phase of an Outdoor Intergenerational Community Classroom were approved by the CPC.
We still need final approval from the Finance Committee and the full Board of Alderman. We expect to receive these approvals and will start the planning process in early spring. The PTO received financial commitments of $4,800 toward this project from the Lasell Neighborhood Association, Lasell College, the Charles River Neighborhood Fondation, and families in the community.
A multimedia presentation on the Williams Outdoor Classroom Proposal can now be viewed online (this is a large file so please be patient as it loads). Use the “fast-forward” button to move through the slides describing the project. You can also download a complete copy of the grant proposal outlining the need for funding.
